Queen E, i Virginity was a big asset – no man was worth the crown or a coup or one’s own neck; after all, Boleyn ran in her blood; immortality was dependent on no direct heirs, a regal look, a lifetime of supporting those sonnet-writing bards.
i saw a portrait of Queen ELizabeth I in a magazine, and i read up on her -- she apparently
got the pox and after that, she used her trademark white face paint and orange wigs
and fancy gear to hide the scars.....
I LOVE the image of “Boleyn//ran in her blood”…evoked her mother, obviously; the cut of her mother’s ending (which I also heard in “coup”); the disease; and the internal rage (“boiling. . . blood”)
I can never get enough of Elizabeth.
