Tomorrow I lose. That is, daylight savings time ends before the sun rises, and I will be losing an hour tomorrow when I (along with most of the United States & Canada) set my clocks ahead. That’s an hour to sleep or an hour to dream or an hour to write.
Still, I’m not that broken up about it – that’s an extra hour of sunlight I’m going to enjoy at the end of each day from here on out, until the fall. 🙂 I’m also the harried mom of three, so that hour of “extra” light will most likely be spent at soccer practice.
Yet, I’m determined to change my habits and work on something that is important to me. I want to finish a draft of my novel, Shadow Gardens, before the kids finish the school year around Memorial Day.
That’s roughly 80 days from now.
There, I said it. I really have to finish the draft, sooner rather than later. So, this means I need to write or revise roughly two pages each day to get the total page count I’m aiming for.
I have done a fair amount of revision and “drafting” already, but I’ve rethought the structure a couple of times so far in 2012; and that’s eaten into my word count since many of the pages I’d previously written no longer fit.
So, this means I need to personally “spring forward,” and get moving. 🙂
What are your writing resolutions on this eve of spring?

I love seeing the declaration here — “out loud.” Great way to spring forward!
