Motivation is thrilling. This week Leo began to make a board game on a piece of poster board I had lying around, leftover from a vision board party. He became intent, staying up late and getting up early to create squares to lang on with activities and messages, twists and turns. Well, the board game itself is a good metaphor for story, but I’m also interested in the motivated character, driving forward. Engaged. Taking action to approach the goal. That desire plus the obstacles in its way turns an ordinary day into a story. Notice the role of desire in the stories you tell in your day-to-day life. Witness the desire you see in the actions of those around you. Bring that desire to your characters, into your writing.
