day 19 of my napowrimo2011 (write a poem a day!)

Mirror, mirror

The broad was getting older by the proverbial
minute; as much as the story is about her vanity

and how she couldn’t handle any competition
and whatnot, what about the friggin’ king?

It was his daughter living in so-called sin with seven
guys -- nothing more than a glorified housekeeper

too. What you must know is that it was all about me;
I just wanted some pretty young thing to reflect;

I was tired of the old dame and her adjustments
and lifts, and her flippin’ eyebrows were starting

to resemble the golden arches except they weren’t
golden anymore, you know what I’m saying?

As impartial as I am, as impartial as the next
guy, I’m really a girl. A silent woman.

a little snow white, a little plath. a tongue in cheek remake....

  1. loved it, chuckled at the many references…

    strangely enough, made me think of Britomart and her mirror, which she ends up basically telling off…
