Sharon Sayler is a BWW member and a published author. Her new book, What Your Body Says (and how to manage the message), can change your relationships and what you understand communication to be. She recently came to the BWW to talk to us about what writers need to know about body language. She gave a lot of terrific tips for giving readings and public presentations. I took mad notes the whole time she talked. It was truly fascinating.

We also talked about the ways writers need to observe and understand body language in dialog and scene. It can be useful to see the contradictions between “What Your Body Says” and what your mouth is saying. It’s necessary to understand this in your characters–whether fictional or real. I highly recommend this video and know that I am going to watch it over again more than once even though I was at the event. Sharon is also offering a course in promotion that will include body language and public speaking, so check that out.
